As any restorer will know, and anyone who has attempted to bring to life old machinery, cleaning the metalwork is a hugely time consuming process. Removing, sometimes decades of paint and rust with a strip disc and an angle grinder (even if it is a 9 inch one) can take weeks!
Last year, when we decided to start bringing this sort of work in house we purchased a 6 foot topper. This, as many of our readers will know, is essentially a large square steel box that is 6 foot x 6 foot; that’s 36 square feet of paint and rust that had to be stripped off to bring it back to its original condition. This took 11 days to accomplish and made the project completely unviable
A year on, with the bulk of the agriculture season over and we’re back to restoration and repair of machinery. So, to bring the 11 day paint and rust stripping time down to a manageable, and cost effective time we have just invested in an Atlas copco diesel compressor that will kick out 100 cubic feet of air per minute. Coupled with a 100 litre shotblast pot and a suitable blasting media and that 11 day 36 foot cleaning job? This time took 1.5 hours!

Costings:
We charge a flat rate of £75 + VAT per hour. This includes media, fuel and all associated costs. Depending on the time of year, and size of parts, we can offer turnarounds as quick as a day.
